An international team of scientists at the NSF-funded IceCube Neutrino Observatory use Comet and the Open Science Grid among other resources to find the first evidence of a source of cosmic neutrinos that travel billions of light years from the most extreme environments in the universe to Earth. “We have never before used multi-messenger astrophysics to pinpoint the origin of high-energy cosmic rays,” says NSF Director France Córdova.
